Danielle de Niese and Nathan Sykes to join cast of Hadestown

Nathan Sykes, Danielle de Niese, Shaun Dooley, Fayth Ifil and Malinda Parris are to join the West End cast of Hadestown from September 15.

Singer-songwriter Sykes, best known as a member of The Wanted, will play Orpheus, while Olivier Award-winning soprano de Niese will perform as Persephone.

They are joined by Mr Bates vs The Post Office and It's a Sin actor Shaun Dooley as Hades, and Fayth Ifil whose previous credits include Tina in The Tina Turner Musical.

The new cast will join the production as it celebrates its 1,000th performance at the Lyric Theatre in London's West End this week.

Featuring music, lyrics and book by Anaïs Mitchell, Hadestown intertwines the Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice with the story of Hades and Persephone.

The musical, directed by Rachel Chavkin, blends folk, blues, jazz and pop influences and began life as a concept album before transferring to the stage.

The Tony and Grammy Award-winning production opened in the West End in 2024 following its Broadway success.

The new principal cast joins Melanie Bright, Spike Maxwell and Lauran Rae as the Fates, with performances beginning on September 15.
